Suggestions for further work

After exploring the materials in this Music Independent Study Module, consider ways in which you could integrate some of these ideas into your teaching. Provide an outline of how you would build an idea or theme into the everyday work of the class or a special lesson or session and send this to me. You can create this in any format that you think is appropriate (Word file, PowerPoint, web based resource such as a Blog).

Points to look out for:

Build music into everyday classroom activities
Take music as the starting point for an exploration of a theme, issue or topic
Learning about a curriculum area through music
Demonstrate how you will develop any or all of the four capacities; Confident Individuals, Successful Learners, Responsible Citizens and Effective Contributors.

Demonstrate how some or all of the principles of curriculum design are built into your work.

Challenges and enjoyment
Breadth
Progression
Depth
Personalisation and choice
Coherence
Relevance

I am also happy to receive comments and feedback on the study materials and I would welcome any suggestions for additional material or requests for clarification or further reading.

Please send materials to me at: c.g.byrne@strath.ac.uk

Thank you for taking the opportunity to explore these important areas of learning.

Best wishes
